Terex Closing - Baraga

It's not good news for the UP especially for Baraga County with an unemployment rate of 26 percent. Teres Telehandler in Baraga will close it's door between November 30th and December 11.

Production in Baraga was at 12 machines a day at one point but had dropped to only one machine a day over the past year. With Terex moving their operation to other plants across the country it leaves Baraga without approximately 90 jobs. Some of those employees may be offer a transfer to Moses Lake in Washington.

The closing of the Terex plant will affect many other businesses in the area. There are many subcontractors currently making parts or providing services to the Terex operation.

Again we failed to look close at home with these potential job losses.

I blog about all these typical issues on my blog
